Please join ETOA and partners at FITUR for an event on how railways can contribute to face the challenges of sustainable tourism

Whether in response to consumer interest in sustainable long-distance travel as an alternative to flying, or the result of product development by rail operators, leisure rail tourism is growing. Issues remain: booking horizons; cost; multi-country ticketing; service resilience.

Please join ETOA and partners at FITUR for the event Sustainable Tourism + Rail: How Railways can contribute to face the challenges of Sustainable Tourism.

The workshop will focus on:

  • Presentations: Examples of rail operators, tour operators or organisations driving rail experiences with sustainability as key motivation
  • Round Table: Integrating rail tourism within sustainable products development

ETOA has partnered with UIC, the umbrella body of national railways, to support its TopRail project aimed at increasing take-up of rail product by the industry. The purpose of TopRail is to enhance the visibility of railway tourism products and to encourage train and tourism opportunities by collaboration between stakeholders.

Operators and DMCs are strongly encouraged to attend.

The event is hosted by Renfe and supported by UIC (International Railway Association) and ETOA.
