Tourist Tax - Turistična Taksa
Type: Flat rate per person, per night (combined tourist tax + promotion fee)
Decided by: local governments (municipalities). All municipalities regulate that the tax is levied on visitors staying overnight.
The rate varies nationwide but is capped at €2.50 by national government (Law on Promotion of Tourism Development 2018 – Article 17). The cap is subject to change by national government to take into account inflation.
A national promotion fee is added to the tourist tax. The rate is 25% of the local tourist tax levied and for exclusive use by the Slovenia Tourist Board for international promotion. Municipalities who have decided not to charge a tourist tax are not obliged to collect the promotion fee.
