Kurtaxe or Taxe de séjour

The kurtaxe or taxe de jour is levied on visitors staying overnight and used to fund local infrastructure and facilities, events and services in the interest of visitors. The rate of tax is decided by the local government (municipality). In return for paying the tax, some destinations issue visitors with a Card for free public transport and discounted entry to visitor attractions.

There are two other tourism taxes payable by businesses in destination Beherbergungsabgabe (accommodation tax) and Tourismusförderungstaxe (tourism promotion tax).

Below are selected destinations (NB Engelberg does not levy a Kurtaxe).

Further (and constantly updated) information can be found by clicking on the name of the destination.
